A New Look at Women and Organised Crime

A growing number of women are getting involved in organised crime as participants, rather than victims. The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) analyses this surge in female gang membership and involvement in transnational organised crime, noting that, despite trends, we lack a gender-conscious approach to studying organised crime, failing to take account of how or why women become involved in criminal activity.
