| Brief Description | Due to tremendous demand from other parts of the country, MLAA expanded its initial program to 10 districts covering 70 UPs, traditional forums, through 9 partner NGOs. The main focus of these partnership programs is to replicate the methods to the other parts of the country for activating local justice system in these respective areas to project and empowered rural poor peoples. |

| Brief Description | The ultimate goal of the project is to support the formulation of a national strategy on customary law formulating guidelines on the reconciliation of customary laws with state laws and ensuring that customary rules and practices are harmoniously integrated into the Lao PDR Legal system. As part of a general objective of developing legal empowerment for the poorest and most vulnerable groups, it seems of great importance to develop knowledge of customary laws and practices throughout the country in order to efficiently combine this source of law with the broader official normative framework. |

| Brief Description | Following an appreciation that land rights violations were rampant, a years work went into creating a 'movement' for researching and campaigning on land grabbing. This began with research focusing on understanding how land grabbing is allowed to succeed, and has identified weaknesses in State justice system, customary justice system, land administration, etc. (see www.land-in-uganda.org for several papers emanating from the research). A total of over ten national and international organisations have already joined with LEMU in this campaign. |
